Cool contest results

Tue Apr 14, 2009, 12:32 PM
:pokeball: The Cool contest was fun! There were seven entries. Three ribbons got distributed, there was one simple failure, and three contestants screwed up badly. And now, as promised:

:) Best of Show: ~Despearex
Barbell the Rambo Lucario. He gunned down Team Rocket.

:) Crowd favorite: ~LCTechno
Marly the Banette. She just wasn't intimidating enough.

:noes: Public disgrace: ~Zeta-Neubourn
Dexter the Sableye. He face planted and shattered his eyes.

:? So, anyone up for another contest? See the Cool contest for how it works. I'm not set on a contest type yet, so I'll try out a poll!

You're a Pokémon in a Cool contest...

Sat Apr 4, 2009, 9:08 AM
:pokeball: You're a Pokémon participating in a Cool contest. You've got one shot at winning.

Tell me, briefly, in a reply to this journal:

:bulletpurple: What Pokémon are you (species, gender, and name)?
:bulletpurple: What single move are you using?
:bulletpurple: What makes you so cool?
:bulletpurple: How much hubris do you have (on a scale from zero to five)?

(Hubris is excessive pride or self-confidence.)

Here's the deal:

I'll roll six-sided dice equal to one plus your hubris.
:) Do I see at least a single one? You succed! You get a ribbon.
:( Otherwise, you fail! You're not good enough, you do not get a ribbon.
:noes: If you fail and I see a six, you screw up badly. It won't be pretty.

I'll describe how it plays out, in a reply to your comment.

When I'm done with this contest, I'll post the Pokémon with the lowest total score for each of the three categories. Perhaps I'm gonna draw them too, depends on the turnout.
:) Succeded with best score? You're best of show!
:) Failed with best score? You're crowd favorite!
:noes: Screwed up badly with best score? You're a public disgrace!

:plotting: Let's see who enters this contest...

People don't Read

Sat Mar 21, 2009, 2:58 AM
:greetings: Here's a hypothetical situation. You draw a realistic picture of a cat, but you make it a green cat. You name it "The Green Cat". In the description you write a short explanation. Yes, you know that cat's aren't actually green, but this one is, for whatever reason you came up with.

:( You get a bunch of comments. Lots will say "Dude, cats aren't green!" or "Why is this cat green?"

:shakefist: You conclude people are stupid. Right?

:) Well, actually, people just don't read. It's all about what they see, or imagine to see.

:giggle: I'm amused when people get all frustrated about this.

:shamrock: In other news, my cactus decided to flower yet again! It's supposed to do that when the days get shorter, not longer. Silly plant.

Eeeveelutions - Jolteon Time

Wed Mar 18, 2009, 5:31 AM
:painter: I'm revisiting my Eeveelution Poster Project. I've picked up with some Jolteon studies. So far it's just reference copies, but by now I should know Jolteon well enough. Time to get creative!

:omfg: Oh and Kelsey, Pixie, Tim, Ken, Rick: don't forget to check out the Our Pokémon Show forum!

Our Pokémon Show - Looking for more players

Wed Mar 4, 2009, 11:01 AM
:) While the first play group is happily creating characters, I've started a second play group. Because this whole forum RPG is one big experiment I've decided to approach the second group a bit differently.

8-) For the second group I'm going to focus on three things. Streamlining setting and character creation, keeping the game running when people drop out, and keeping up the pace.

:bulletpurple: To speed up setting and character creation I'll use a very rough associative approach. This'll result is a very sketchy but running start, with any details emerging during play.

:bulletpurple: I'll try to keep the game running when people drop out by inviting more people. I currently think a working number is between three and six players.

:bulletpurple: Keeping up the pace will be done by rigorously continuing even if some people become inactive or fail to show up. Not posting will result in less infuence in the game, but you could jump back in if you become active again. If you don't contribute for a while you will be evicted from the group though.

:omfg: I'm currently looking for two more people. Give a shout if you want to join. It's first-come, first-served! If I'll need more people I'll ask here again.
