For those who have many watchers, and for those who dont have many, it is hard to know how one retains that interest as well as receive more. This article explores the basics of watchers and how we react to certain situations. Although it does not affect some deviants, and the tips are generally related to common sense, we hope the article is a worthwhile read and that the majority learn something from reading this.

Constructive fractals are fun
What's your max_trace_level on this one ?
I set
max_trace_levelto 256 for final renders by default to prevent frustration, but it usually needs far less. I belief this one didn't exceed 10. As an aside, this reflection scene required a depth of about 16.What keeps the trace level down in this scene is the limited contribution of reflection (70%), lack of transparent surfaces, and lack of parallel mirrors (the rays are quickly reflected out of the fractal bounds).
I chose 150x150 because DA doesn't display animated GIFs larger than that. You're stuck with a preview image and people need to click the Download button. Too much fuss. Oh and because of the file size.
Funny, as my frontpage image is a 250x150 animated GIF... I guess they didn't have that restriction back when I submitted that.
If I would create this animation from scratch I guess it would take about an hour if I refrain from experimenting.
In reality I've reused code and adapted an approach that took more time to write, but allows more complex effects, like adding gravity. I also had to hunt for free animation software and figure out an acceptable way to get it on display on DA. As a result the whole thing took about four hours.
